The College of Business at Louisiana Tech University will host its annual William D. Tindol Bankers Day, Wednesday, April 10, featuring executives from local and regional banking institutions. The bankers will speak to economics and finance classes in the morning followed by a 2 p.m. session in University Hall that will feature Princeton Williams, senior economic education specialist, and Thomas F. Siems, senior economist and director of economic outreach, both from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.  Williams’ presentation is titled, “The Federal Reserve: American’s Central Bank,” and Siems will present “The Economic Roller Coaster:  Where Have We Been? And Where Are We Going?” “Bankers Day was instituted to provide an opportunity for business and academia to collaborate in the college setting,” said Dr. James Lumpkin, dean of Louisiana Tech’s College of Business.  “Bankers Day provides a unique opportunity for business and academia to collaborate in the college setting.” Lumpkin said students are given examples of real-life experiences by business professionals in the banking industry. “This type of exposure offers students an understanding of the banking field and the type of career opportunities available to them upon graduation,” he said. Bankers Day is made possible through a donation of the William D. Tindol family to commemorate his long association with the banking industry.  In addition, a deserving economics/finance student will be the recipient of a generous scholarship in memory of Tindol.
