College of Business to host global lecture featuring David Kohl, ’84
David Kohl, ’84, senior vice president and principal at Roach Howard Smith & Barton and president of the Dallas Committee on Foreign Relations, will headline the College of Business’ 2020 Global Lecture Series at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27. Free and open to the public, the event will take place in Davis Auditorium (College of Business 101) on the Louisiana Tech University campus.
“Understanding business issues in a global context is imperative for success in business,” said Dr. Chris Martin, dean of the College of Business. “This lecture series provides students with the opportunity to hear from a top thought leader on global business to help give context to the issues they are currently exploring in the classroom. I’m confident attendees will find David’s lecture to be both relevant and engaging.”
David Kohl has more than 40 years of experience in the world of risk management and insurance brokerage. Throughout his tenure with Roach Howard Smith & Barton, Kohl has helped to build out the company’s international insurance operations and was appointed to the Assurex International Executive Committee where he advised the board of directors on international strategy. In 2010, he was recognized as a Power Broker Finalist by Risk & Insurance in the Global Insurance category.
In 2016, Kohl created and was the driving force for the Global Risk Series as part of the Dallas Committee on Foreign Relations, an independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization dedicated to advancing dialogue and understanding relevant global issues. He joined the board in 2017 and was named president in 2019.
In addition to his insurance practice, Kohl serves on the Advisory Board of The Institute for Excellence in Corporate Governance, is a TFS-certified Foresight Practitioner and Risk Expert, serves on private company boards, and co-manages a Hong Kong based investment group with this brother who resides there.
Kohl is a 1984 graduate of Louisiana Tech’s College of Business. He resides in Dallas with his wife, Kara.
