The College of Business at Louisiana Tech University will host banking executives from financial institutions throughout the region at its annual William D. Tindoll Banker’s Day, May 2 in the College of Business building.

Executives from local and regional banking institutions will share their expertise with students on a variety of topics during economics and finance classes. The bankers will be able to provide examples of real-life application of what students are learning in class.

“This event provides a unique opportunity for business and academia to collaborate in a college setting,” says Dr. James Lumpkin, dean of Louisiana Tech’s College of Business.

Among the executives scheduled to speak are Drake Mills, president of Community Trust Bank; John Michael Rowland, assistant vice president and commercial lender for Bancorp South; and John Cole, executive vice president and chief lending officer for Gibsland Bank and Trust.

“It is exciting for us to be able to host such a great group with such a vast wealth of knowledge,” said Dr. Otis Gilley, head of the Department of Economics and Finance at Louisiana Tech.  “This will be a great opportunity for our students to network with the best in the business and find out what it really takes to be employable in the banking industry.”

Guest lectures in the morning session will be followed by a presentation by economists from the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas.  The afternoon presentation is open to the public and will take place at 1:30 p.m. in the Davis Auditorium in the College of Business building.
