Bisping’s appointment will take effect on June 1, pending approval from the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors. “The College of Business at Louisiana Tech is a special place and I am honored to be a part of building upon its rich history of academic excellence,” said Bisping. “I will work to continue the College’s tradition of building distinction through innovation while maintaining our student-centered focus and our commitment to our extensive network of loyal alumni and friends. “The coming year will be an important chapter in the history of the College of Business and I am excited to be a part of it.” Bisping, a native of Kansas, earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wichita State University, and his Ph.D. in economics from Oklahoma State University. He has served as associate dean of graduate programs and research in the College of Business since 2011, and holds the Jack and Peggy Byrd Endowed Professorship. Bisping had also served as an assistant/associate professor of economics at Louisiana Tech from 2000 to 2006. “Dr. Bisping has contributed significantly to Louisiana Tech University in his efforts as Associate Dean of Graduate Programs, and he will be a great asset to the College as Interim Dean,” said Dr. Marcia Dickerson, assistant dean of undergraduate programs for the College of Business. “I am looking forward to working with him and continuing to develop outstanding opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.” A committee will be formed and led by Dr. Terry McConathy, vice president for academic affairs for Louisiana Tech, to conduct a national search for a permanent replacement for Lumpkin.
