U.S. News & World Report (USNWR) has ranked Louisiana Tech University as a Top Tier National University for the 13th consecutive year in its 2024 Best Colleges list released today. Louisiana Tech was also ranked No. 162 on the USNWR list of Top Public Schools.

Tech ranked 12 spots higher than last year’s ranking and second among public universities in the state of Louisiana on the National Universities list.

“Louisiana Tech continues to rank among the best in the nation thanks to our collective commitment to excellence in the classroom and beyond,” said Dr. Les Guice, Tech President. “This ranking is external validation of what we already know—Louisiana Tech provides an unparalleled education. We’ve continued to increase retention and graduation rates while attracting the most qualified students in our state and nation to Louisiana Tech. I could not be prouder.”

Tech’s Colleges also received accolades in this year’s rankings. Engineering programs in the College of Engineering and Science (COES) were ranked No. 150 in the nation, and the College’s Computer Science programs were ranked No. 229 in the nation.

“The hands-on focus of our undergraduate curricula, especially the curricula for Living with the Lab and Living with Cyber programs that our engineering and computer science students go through, prepares them for the workforce immediately after graduation,” Interim COES Dean Dr. Collin Wick said of the rankings. “I’m happy that the U.S. News and World Report has recognized the hard work of our faculty and staff in delivering high-value courses and am excited to see the latest innovations in action over the next year.”

Undergraduate programs in the College of Business were ranked No. 211 in the country—up eight spots from last year’s ranking.

“Our continued rise in rankings at the undergraduate and graduate levels is a reflection of the quality of faculty, staff, and students within our College,” said Dr. Chris Martin, Dean of the College of Business. “It is an honor to be considered among the best business schools in the country. It is our strategic focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology, combined with our commitment to student success and high impact research, that sets us apart. I’m grateful to our faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends who all play critical roles in ensuring the College remains a top business school.”

Undergraduate psychology programs housed within the College of Education and Human Sciences earned a spot on the newest U.S. News ranking.

“I am proud and honored that the Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences has been named one of the top undergraduate programs in psychology in the country,” College of Education and Human Sciences Interim Dean and Professor of Psychology Dr. Mitzi Desselles said. “Our faculty work very hard to promote a scientist-practitioner model. We value robust, theory-driven research while also seeking to address real-world problems. These two perspectives are not mutually exclusive. Rather, the combined approach makes our work stronger and more relevant to students.”

For the 2024 rankings, USNWR evaluated nearly 1,500 U.S. four-year bachelor’s degree-granting institutions on as many as 19 measures for its 39th rankings edition. More than half of a school’s rank is comprised of varying outcome measures related to schools’ success at enrolling, retaining, and graduating students from different backgrounds with manageable debt and post-graduate success.
