TOP DAWG Idea Pitch deadline nears

Oct 4, 2011 | Business

Louisiana Tech students who have an idea for a great product that, perhaps, solves pesky problems are encourged to enter the 2011 TOP DAWG Idea Pitch.  Students interested in entering the competition must complete and submit an application to COB room 207 by Friday, Oct 5. “Maybe you’ve thought of a unique way to help people in need or have you watched one of those commercials for a new product like the stick-on battery powered light bulb and said to yourself, ‘I know how to make that even better’ or ‘I thought of something like that 2 years ago,'” said Debbie Inman, coordinator of entrepreneurial studies in Louisiana Tech’s College of Business.  “If so,  students should enter their ideas in the TOP DAWG Idea Pitch competition. Fraternities, sororities, student clubs, and even classes can recruit and support a team to enter ideas.” To enter the competition, students need to fill out an entry form which they can download forms from http://be.latech.edu, pick up forms from COB room 207, or join the Bulldog Entrepreneurs Facebook page, and answer 5 questions about their idea.  Bulldog Entrepreneurs will have information sessions to help you build your pitch.  For the idea pitch, students set up a display about their idea.  Judges visit the display where students give a 3 to 5 minute presentation.  The presentation will take place on Nov 3, 2011. The student body will also vote with Bulldog Bucks for their favorite idea. The 2010 Idea Pitch had almost 300 students  watch pitches and vote. The top ideas get a chance to compete in the TOP DAWG New Venture Championship during the spring quarter.  For questions about the TOP DAWG Idea Pitch competition, visit http://be.latech.edu or find Bulldog Entrepreneurs on Facebook.  TOP DAWG Idea Pitch is a Bulldog Entrepreneurs event.
