College of Business to honor Davison, Post at Hall of Fame banquet

Louisiana Tech University’s College of Business is proud to announce the induction of James E. Davison and Glen F. Post into the College’s Hall of Fame during its first ever Hall of Fame and Faculty Awards Banquet, presented by Squire Creek Country Club, at 6:00 p.m. May 8 at Squire Creek.

In addition to the induction of Davison and Post, Dr. James Lumpkin, dean of the College of Business, will also present the Dean’s Excellence Awards in Teaching and Research, sponsored by Community Trust Bank, and the “Business of the Year” Awards, presented by the Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and the College of Business.

“We are excited to begin this new tradition for the college,” says Lumpkin. “We are blessed with many outstanding businesses and business leaders who have made a difference. We are proud to be able to honor them in this way.”

Glen F. Post, III, who joined CenturyLink (formerly CenturyTel) in 1976, is currently Chairman of the Board and has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since 1992.  He has formed and led a highly respected management team that helped to transform a small local exchange company into an S&P 500 company operating in 25 states and serving more than 3.5 million customers.  Over the past 15 years, CenturyLink has grown more than 10-fold and the company’s stock price has increased more than 365 percent under Post’s leadership.  CenturyLink has also experienced significant growth in the communities the company serves as well as growth in its employee base.

Post received both a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s of business administration from Louisiana Tech, and serves on the College of Business’ Advisory Board.

James Ellis Davison is a Ruston native who is owner and developer of Squire Creek Country Club, one of the top golf courses in the South.  After earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Louisiana Tech, Davison took over his father’s trucking company, growing Davison Transport from two trucks to a fleet of over 300 trucks and 700 trailers.  In 2004, Davison sold the company to Genesis Energy, LP.  At Louisiana Tech’s spring 2000 commencement, Davison was awarded an honorary doctorate from his alma mater.  In 2004, he topped the Monroe News Star’s list of the Most Influential People in Northeastern Louisiana Business.
