Success Spotlights

Student Success Higlight

The College of Business celebrates students who are impacting their communities and living out the values of our College: ethical behavior, mutual respect, transparency, accountability, and engagement. 2018 management graduate Marlon Watts is doing just that. The self-proclaimed “street entrepreneur” turned clothing designer and business guru has built a brand around a dream bigger than his own: providing original design and branded apparel for urban youth who feel stagnant and trapped by what their environment tells them they can and can’t do. “We’re trying to give hope to the hopeless, to inspire kids back home to never be satisfied with where they are, to always be striving for more.” WRLDINVSN became an LLC in 2014 and has only grown since then as Watts and his business partner, Nicholas Clark, have become more confident in representing their brand and mission.

“The College of Business allowed me to meet different people—from different backgrounds, in different social circles, different colors. You can go through school and never get anything out of it. It’s all about the connections that you make. The connections that Ruston, Louisiana Tech and the College of Business have afforded me are the best thing that’s ever happened.”

“I enjoy so many things about the College of Business but the best part are our professors and staff. Being in my core major classes, I have found that some of the material can be challenging or require a lot of outside of the classroom work. I love that the professors are always there to lend a helping hand. They are all dedicated to their job but go beyond that by interacting with students, providing open door policies, and seeking out internship opportunities for their fields.”
